Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between second language (L2) learners' intelligibility and pronunciation accuracy, as well as the consequences for efficient communication. It is critical for instructors and students to comprehend how pronunciation impacts comprehension as global interactions grow. This study assesses intelligibility scores and pronunciation performance using secondary data. Initial results show a strong positive correlation between intelligibility and pronunciation correctness, indicating that improved phonetic competence results in more understandable communication. Pronunciation skills development and overall communicative efficacy are attributed to a number of factors, including exposure to authentic linguistic settings, language transfer from the learner's original language, and individual phonetic aptitude. These results demonstrate that in order to increase intelligibility, pronunciation instruction must be given top priority in L2 educational programs. The significance of establishing a nurturing atmosphere for the development of phonological awareness is emphasized in the recommendations for including phonetic education into language curriculum. In the end, this study emphasizes how important pronunciation is to enabling successful communication in a heterogeneous society where language serves as a bridge across cultural boundaries.
